Knowledge Sources Quick Start

Learn how to create and manage knowledge sources in Ziddny

The Knowledge section allows you to create and manage the information your assistants rely on to answer user questions.

Accessing Knowledge Sources

KB Interface

  1. From the left sidebar, click “Knowledge”.
  2. You will be redirected to the Knowledge Sources page.
Here, you can view all your existing sources and related statistics.

At the top of the page, you’ll see a summary showing:

  • Knowledge Sources: The total number of sources available for your team.
  • Stored Points: The total number of indexed knowledge points currently stored.
  • Monthly Processed Points: The number of knowledge points processed this month, i.e., to store the indexed points as you may index, remove and re-nidex again.

These statistics help you monitor how much of your data is indexed and how much processing capacity is used.

Creating a Knowledge Source

  1. Click the “Add New” button in the top right corner.
  2. Enter a Name and a Description for your knowledge source.
    • Example:
      • Name: “Product Manual”
      • Description: “Official product documentation for the support assistant.”
  3. Click Create to add it.

Once created, your new source will appear in the Knowledge Sources list.

Understanding Knowledge Points

When you upload data such as documents or websites, Ziddny automatically processes the content and converts it into small, semantically meaningful chunks called points.

  • Each point represents a text block of around 1,024 tokens, which typically equals a few paragraphs of coherent information.
  • These points are what your assistant references when answering user questions.
  • The Stored Points counter shows how much knowledge is currently available.
  • The Monthly Processed Points counter tracks how much new information has been processed this month.

Tip

The better your documents are structured, the more effectively Ziddny can index and retrieve accurate responses.

Notice

Each subscription plan has a limit on the number of points you can store and process. Please check your billing page for details about your plan’s limits and available capacity.

Managing Knowledge Sources

You can manage existing sources directly from the Knowledge Sources page:

  • View Source Details – Click on a source to open and manage its content.
  • Delete Source – Click the trash icon 🗑️ to permanently remove a source.

Deleting a source will remove all indexed knowledge from it and free up stored points.

Next Steps

After creating a knowledge source, you can connect it to an assistant so that it can use this information to answer questions.
